Goodbye, Summer... I'll miss you. Our time together was too short.

Hello, Winter... please play nice this year. I have no beef with you.

Flynn loves snow. Look out chickens! She's saving us from vicious, man-eating squirrels.

Time to break out the DIY water anti-freeze devices (40 watt light bulb works like a charm)

The ducks are mad that their pools are frozen and the chickens really hate walking around in the snow

I worry about the Muscovy since they're from South America. Saw Big Boy shivering today.

Who moved my cheese?! The snow has thrown off the waterfowl routine - they hate change!

Got the woodstove installed in the barn - Cozy warm now. (ignore the pile of boxes in the corner).

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog because now I've found YOURS! :-)
Your comment led to so much discussion and investigation by me and my husband - it was awesome. We had also wondered why a girlfriend of mine's exposed water pipe didn't freeze in below freezing temps while my insulated barn pipe freezes almost the second it hits 32 degrees...now we know it's because she called a "freeze-proof hydrant"! She didn't know what it was called either - so...(long comment, sorry) Thank YOU so much. :-)
Also - did you post anywhere on your blog about your DIY no-freeze chicken waterer? That would be a good DIY project that I could tackle on my own, I'm thinking!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog! I love yours and have a little notification set up for each time you make a post. I'm jealous of your donkeys and goats (and llama), some day I'm gonna get one or more of them myself :)

I'm so super happy that I provided you with some helpful advice!

Those frostproof hydrants are awesome and I never have any trouble with my waterers freezing over when I use my DIY heaters.

They're super easy to build and work like a charm.
